History:
The myth of the Minotaur is perhaps one of the most fascinating of all ancient Greek mythology. The result of a love affair between Queen Pasiphae and a beautiful white bull sent by Poseidon, the fate of the Minotaur was forever linked to his imprisonment in a labyrinth where each year he devoured fourteen young Athenians offered as a sacrifice to atone for their defeat in the war against Minos of Crete. Finally, the lonely monster died at the hands of the Athenian prince Theseus.
Meaning:
The properties of this talisman focus on the quest for our inner, most hidden being, where we will find the primordial force with which we were created as living beings.
The Minotaur represents strength and passion, and the labyrinth is the quest for these qualities in our innermost being, as well as the symbol of transformation through inner research. The Minotaur’s labyrinth is also very powerful in trapping evil and destroying it.
